Increased need for assistance with this picture on the computer?

Okay, my husband and daughter-hour trip to the beach, just for the photos from the beach. and I need at least 1024×768 pixels. I'm not good with cameras at all, but I heard that you can set the resolution without having to take the picture again. Does anyone know how to increase the resolution and pixels? Please IrfanView (which I personally used for years) you can get it here: Install http://www.download.com/IrfanView/3000-2192-10021962.html?part=dl-IrfanView&subj=dl&tag=button that installing, click "Images only" and not installing the Google Toolbar unless you want. Open your image, click the menu "Image" and then click "Resize / Resample", click "1024×768" radio button, then click the new sampling "Radio button and select" Lanczos filter. After the re-sample the image, according to the original size, should see results quite acceptable. Then click File> Save As and save! I hope it works!
